Drew Klassen was born in Toronto and spent his youth in Winnipeg. In 1986, he moved to Halifax to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. In 1988, he transferred to the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Dalhousie University School of Architecture) where he received his Master’s degree in Architecture in 1992.
