The Tallpecs
The second and third floors of Hyatt Regency Calgary are thrilled to display 30 pieces by renowned Calgary photographer and artist Harry Palmer. In the second story, a particular type of art known as a Tallpec is displayed in the +15 Walkway. Eleven of these pieces are shown in the hotel on the second floor.
Palmer invented a unique kind of art known as a Tallpec by contemplating the tall and slender appearance of a scroll and how the world might seem through the small openings in castle walls. By shooting a picture with a standard format camera's vertical axis, you may create this effect even though the images aren't as tall as they would be on a scroll. Palmer later cropped the vertical photos' sides to make them appear thinner and taller.
Palmer, who was still unsatisfied with the appearance, thought back to his martial arts training and recalled that power is obtained by squeezing the centre of one's internal energy. From this point, he compressed the photos to make them appear taller and skinnier rather than cropping them. At this time, he realized that he had invented a novel and potent kind of art, which he dubbed Tallpec and which begins with a photograph and is transformed by computer software.
